2 Months Old

Sydney is 2 months old now and just had her two month appointment today.  That of course means the dreaded two month shots.  She did really good.  She cried of course, but she was in the middle of eating a bottle when the nurse came in to give her the shots.  We saved the rest for afterwards and it really helped soothe her and calm her down.

Well, time for her stats... She's 11 pounds 14 ounces (75th percentile) and is 23 inches long (75th percentile).  The doctor said she's doing great and she does not need to come back until she's 4 months old.

Sydney has been doing much better since we switched back to her old formula.  She had been having really bad fussy periods in the evenings, sometimes crying for hours at a time.  I thought she may have colic because it was always in the evenings, but we tried the formula and that seems to be working.  Hopefully that's all it was and the problem is solved now.

She's sleeping well at night.  She's slept 6 hours straight the last two nights.  We are definitely feeling better ourselves these days with that little bit of extra sleep at night.

Here's a couple of pictures.

Week 8

Sorry this post is a little late.  Our laptop with all our pics on crashed this past week.  Fortunately we had a friend that let us borrow a data extractor and we got the files off the hard drive.  We're not sure if the computer can be fixed, but at least it's replaceable.  Our pictures are not.

A few updates on Sydney...She has discovered her hands.  She now purposefully sucks her hand/fingers when she's hungry.  This is nice because we can't always get a bottle to her as quick as she'd like.  She's also cooing a lot more and her smiles are becoming even more intentional these days.  She can hold herself up a lot better, but still head butts us every now and then.  She can do a baby push up, but not all the way.  She gets about 50% of the way up.  We'll have to keep working on tummy time.  :)

Thanksgiving will be Sydney's first holiday that we'll be observing.  Yes, we had Halloween, but we didn't participate in Trick or Treating since we were out of town.  And this week will also be Syd's first Iron Bowl.  She'll be decked out in her crimson and white to help cheer on the Tide to a victory.  Roll Tide!

Here's some pictures from our week.

Week 7

Another week has come and gone.  Sydney is now 7 weeks old and is doing great.  She's had a busy week.  She went to Sunday School with her parents for the first time and slept through it-hopefully she'll show more interest in the future.  Her great Mawmaw came to babysit while Mommy went to the dentist.  She had her first professional photo shoot (pictures will be up in about 3 weeks).  And she'll be going to Albertville to celebrate her Gran Nana's birthday and see her Granddad Chip's side of the family.

She's smiling a lot more, especially for her Daddy.  She's also tried to laugh a few times.  She almost rolled over while having her pictures taken yesterday.  She can get onto her side but doesn't make it all the way over.  She is also learning how to hold her pacifier in her mouth better.

We've got to make this post short and sweet--lots of things to do today.

6 Weeks Old

We can't believe Sydney is already 6 weeks old.  It doesn't seem like it's already been that long ago that we were at the hospital.  Everyone says time flies when you have kids.  Now I believe it.

This week has been harder than usual.  We think Sydney has hit her 6 week growth spurt.  She's been extremely fussy throughout the entire day and night.  She will finally wear herself out and sleep, but it's really hard for her to finally fall asleep.  We've driven around the neighborhood numerous times.  Today has been a little better, so we'll see if she's finally made it through.  She has grown some more for sure.  I put a 0-3 month onesie on today and it was definitely tight.  Yikes!  I think it's just the brand that runs a little small.

She's definitely becoming more alert and playful (when she wants to be).  She likes her activity mat.  She does really good reaching up and hitting the rattles.  She's also doing a little better raising her head off of it.  We're still working on that push up.

Tonight my mom and dad are coming to babysit Sydney while we have date night.  We definitely need an evening to just unwind and relax, especially after this week.  We love Sydney to death, but sometimes having a baby can be a little overwhelming.

Here's some pictures from the week.  Hope you enjoy!
