3 Months Old This Week

Sydney's dedication was wonderful.  She had so many family and friends there to support her and we appreciate everyone so much.  It was a great day!  She cried before we got on stage, but once Dr. Fenton held her and she could see the spot lights she calmed down and didn't make a peep the rest of the dedication.

Sydney visited Santa Claus today.  She did so great!  She didn't make a peep.  I wonder what she asked for for Christmas???  Sydney also got to open her first Christmas gifts the other day.  Her Gran nana and Papa gave her a rudolph toy with matching slippers and her Aunt Katie and Uncle Jared got her a pretty velvet dress.  I can't wait until Saturday.  I feel like a little child again.

This week will be short, but I'll post again sometime after Christmas/New Year.  Merry Christmas!

Week 11

This has been a really great week!  Sydney is sleeping really well at night now.  She was sleeping around 6 hours straight, then it was 8, now she's slept 10 hours straight for 3 nights.  We feel so much better now that we're getting some uninterrupted sleep.  I really hope this keeps up.

I am so excited about Christmas this year!  I think even more so than years past.  This year it will be extra special with Sydney.  Saturday is Jonathan and my 6th year anniversary.  I cannot believe we've been married that long and now have a child.  God has truly blessed us with so many things, especially with a daughter.  This coming Sunday we will dedicate her to God.  I went to a Moms and More Bible study at church this morning and was reminded that we do not own our children, God does.  We are simply trustees.  I have been so worried about what I'm going to wear, what she's going to wear, will she cry, etc. that I have forgotten to  focus on the meaning of what we will be doing.  God has entrusted this tiny life to us and we are to glorify and honor him in how we raise her.  As our pastor always says during baby dedications, every child is a gift from God and with it comes responsibility.  We are to teach her his word and pray that one day she'll open her heart to him.  I just pray that I will not just dedicate her to God on Sunday, but that I will do so everyday that I have the privilege of raising her.  I am so looking forward to this Sunday.  After the dedication we are having family over to celebrate Sydney's life.  All of Sydney's aunts and uncles will here, all her grandparents, and even some of her great grandparents and four of her great aunts and uncles.

Here are a couple of pictures from the past week.  Enjoy!

Week 10

I can't believe Sydney is already 10 weeks old and almost 11 now--I'm a little off on my weekly blog post.  She continues to become more alert and aware of her surroundings.  She's smiling a lot and I love trying to make her smile and "giggle."  She's starting to enjoy me reading to her.  She used to cry, but now she'll listen to a few pages.

Sydney has had 3 successful trips to the church nursery now.  She was always smiling and looking around at the other babies playing when we'd pick her up.  So, I guess she likes it.

I had to wash her 3-6 month clothes today.  She can still wear her 0-3 month clothes, but they're definitely getting tighter, especially the onesies.  Some of her socks are also getting small.  I guess Patty was right about her ultrasound picture.  She's going to have big feet.

I'm uploading a few pictures from our week plus some from previous weeks that we've had stored on our phones.

Portraits

Back on Nov. 11th, we had Sydney's portraits taken by Ashby Frazier. Ashby's a friend from childhood. We were girl scouts together and she and Jonathan went to church together. She did a great job! We hope you enjoy them.

2 Months Old

Sydney is 2 months old now and just had her two month appointment today.  That of course means the dreaded two month shots.  She did really good.  She cried of course, but she was in the middle of eating a bottle when the nurse came in to give her the shots.  We saved the rest for afterwards and it really helped soothe her and calm her down.

Well, time for her stats... She's 11 pounds 14 ounces (75th percentile) and is 23 inches long (75th percentile).  The doctor said she's doing great and she does not need to come back until she's 4 months old.

Sydney has been doing much better since we switched back to her old formula.  She had been having really bad fussy periods in the evenings, sometimes crying for hours at a time.  I thought she may have colic because it was always in the evenings, but we tried the formula and that seems to be working.  Hopefully that's all it was and the problem is solved now.

She's sleeping well at night.  She's slept 6 hours straight the last two nights.  We are definitely feeling better ourselves these days with that little bit of extra sleep at night.

Here's a couple of pictures.
